Notes & Quotes:
Moving swiftly into the second half of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, the travelling roadshow lands in the Czech Republic, at the Brno circuit, just four days on from the German Grand Prix.

After a difficult weekend in Germany for the American MotoGP team, Brno brings a completely fresh start for Trackhouse and its riders; the first time at the track and for riders - #25 Raul Fernandez and #79 Ai Ogura – the first time on MotoGP class bikes. For all the Championship teams it will, also, be a re-learning experience as none have raced at the Czech track since 2020 and in the meantime, a new pavement has been laid and the technology in both the bikes and tires from Michelin have moved on hugely. Friday’s practice sessions will take on even greater significance than on tracks that are well known!

Motor racing at Brno has been a feature of the local landscape since the beginning of the 1930’s when a course of over 18 miles (29 kilometers) on public roads, snaked its way through the hills and forests outside the city and fans in their hundreds of thousands flocked to watch the heroes of both four and two-wheel racing. Old school road circuits did not stand the test of time and modern safety requirements dictated that Brno fell into line and a purpose built, closed, road course track was opened and hosted its first Motorcycle World Championship event around the new 3.35 mile (5.4 kilometer) layout in 1987.

TThe track runs clockwise and features lots of elevation changes and fast flowing sections, punctuated by slower technical parts, which will make finding a working set-up and getting the riders comfortable with handling and balance on their Trackhouse Aprilia RS-GP25 bikes, especially critical early in the weekend. For the Championship tire supplier, Michelin, the early sessions will also be instructive as they will have had little data upon which to base development of the tire selection for the event.

After the Grand Prix in Germany, Raul Fernandez will arrive at the Czech track needing answers for his difficulties with finding pace from his RS-GP25. After positive outings in Italy and Holland, Raul felt he had lost momentum in Germany and needs to unlock the potential that he and the team know is there. He has only visited Brno on two previous occasions – both in the junior, Moto3, class – so the coming weekend means a blank sheet.

For Ai Ogura, Brno is also going to be a learning experience. He has raced at the track on two occasions in the past, the last time in 2020 when he took a third place in the Moto3 Championship race. Germany was a tough event for the Japanese rookie; Saturday meant running in the wet which helped boost his experience on treaded rubber and a low grip surface and after also building dry pace in Sunday’s main race, he went down at Turn 1 and missed a chance to increase his World Championship points tally. He will be in determined mood when the team rolls into Brno, looking to re-capture the form that he has shown in the early part of his first premier class season.

The Grand Prix of the Czech Republic is the final round in the Championship before the summer break – for the Trackhouse MotoGP Team, a good points haul would be the ideal way to head away!

AI OGURA

“It will be my first time with the MotoGP bike at Brno but I think there are many riders who have also not been there in the premier class. It has been so many years that we didn’t go to Brno and the tarmac will surely be different. I believe it will be an interesting round and I expect nothing specific there. I’ll just go there, try the best I can and aim to improve session by session. I want to be the best version of myself on Sunday.”

RAÚL FERNÁNDEZ

““We have to end the last race before the summer break well. I know that we are going fast and day by day we are improving and we keep exploiting the potential of the bike. I would like to make the last step and I am looking forward positively. I also have very good memories of Brno from Moto3, so I’m happy to get back there and I’ll try to finish the last round before the break in a good way.”

““The last race before the summer break and it will be important in Brno to finish the first half of the season with a smile. We are coming back to a track that we were missing for many years. Our two riders never raced there in MotoGP, so it’s completely new for the team, for the riders and everybody from this point of view. But, it should be a track that suits our bike and I think it could be a positive weekend. Let’s try to make it happen.”
