Notes & Quotes:
Immediately following the Grand Prix of San Marino, Monday, September 15, the Trackhouse MotoGP Team returned to Misano World Circuit and another day on track for the third official in-season MotoGP test. After his 11th place finish in Sunday’s 27 lap race, #25 Raul Fernandez undertook the team’s testing duties alone as teammate #79 Ai Ogura, following his heavy crash in the Grand Prix, was forced to sit on the sidelines.
Warm and sunny conditions provided valuable track time to evaluate a program of options for the latest specification RS-GP25 that Trackhouse is racing, alongside its manufacturer partner team – Aprilia.
Raul completed a full day on track, from 10.15am – 5pm, working on assessment of a new electronics package, a new front suspension fork option and rear shock absorber, a new rear wheel rim option and a number of set-up adjustments.
Running a total of 75 laps through the day, Raul also completed a number of practice launches to optimize his start procedure.
#79 Ai Ogura - statement:
Following Trackhouse MotoGP rider #79 Ai Ogura’s crash, on Lap 3 at the fast right Turn 12 at Misano, in the San Marino Grand Prix on Sunday, September 14, medical investigation after the crash and subsequently on Monday morning has revealed that he has suffered bone bruising at the base of second, third and fourth finger bones in the right hand. All, including the little finger, are inflamed. Further, inflammation swelling around the wrist pivot joint are restricting movement and causing discomfort.
An ultrasound examination has also detected widespread swelling in the soft tissues directly under the left foot heel bone.
Following medical advice, Ai will not ride his Trackhouse Aprilia RS-GP25 in Monday’s official MotoGP Test, at Misano World Circuit and will depart, as scheduled, for Japan on Tuesday to begin preparations for his home race – the Grand Prix of Japan, at Motegi.

RAÚL FERNÁNDEZCompleted: 75 Laps – 196.95 miles / 316.95 kilometers
Best lap: 1’30.761 (P 4)
Top speed: 185.35 mph / 298.3 km/h
“I think it was a very positive test - yet it’s difficult to take any clear conclusions from it testing here in Misano with this kind of grip. Anyway, we tried to be constant to give the data to Aprilia because we have been working with a lot of electronic areas trying to improve the bike. In terms of new parts, we were just very focused on trying to get more out of our bike, our package. I think we found something because I felt more comfortable on the bike and was more relaxed and this was important. The mentality is the same: we have to try to be in Q2 in Japan, which is the primary goal. In some moments of the day we had some time to understand some things with my riding style on the bike and after that we also changed the bike setup a little bit, not a lot of change, but we found something that makes me ride a bit freer and this is the key for improving the race pace. This morning, I didn’t think we found anything but, at the end, it was a very nice test. We took some positives and hopefully we can show that in Japan.”
“Today we tried many things. In the morning, we started with a different setup, which we thought could be a fit for this track and also for Raul. This definitely worked and it helped a lot with turning, which was one point that he was looking to improve. After that, we worked on the electronics, small details that help him being better over a single lap pace, which is important for us. Apart from the electronics, we tried a new fork, which was quite a bit better, looking in the data - Raul didn’t feel a huge difference, but for us, on the engineering side, we saw improvements. We also changed some setups for this new fork so, there were some steps forward. We received a new rear shock from Ohlins, which we tried and although there wasn’t a clear benefit, we need to work more on the analysis to see if there is any clear difference. Finally, we tried a new rear wheel. Overall, it was a good day and we gained across the package - an important test that looks to have given us some benefits for the next races.”

“Ai was not able to ride and we decided to keep him resting in order to have him fully recover for the next Grand Prix, in Japan, which of course is his home race and very important. The doctors are confident that with some days of rest he will be fit - he will be OK. So, we only had Raul riding today. To have this Monday test is always very nice and important, especially looking at the last part of the season. We’ve been trying some different settings, checking different parts like suspensions and other things that you can’t really do during a weekend. The weekend is now quite tough because on Friday afternoon you have to push hard to be in the top 10, which is not easy for us at the moment. So, Friday morning means you can’t lose any time, you can’t do too many experiments but have to come straight to the important things. This day allowed us to recap the situation. We tried different settings, different parts, trying to select and confirm what we are using and then especially electronics, like engine brake. The only dilemma is that Misano has great grip, so you might find something that works very well here and then you come to another track and it’s completely different. But we do what we can and work around that - Raul is working well, he’s quite relaxed and motivated.”
