Trackhouse Racing's Shane van Gisbergen won the Busch Light Pole Award in Saturday's qualifying for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race on the streets of Chicago.
It was the three-car Chevrolet organization's second pole award of the 2025 season and fifth since forming in 2021. It marked Van Gisbergen's third Busch Light pole of his career and second in the No. 88 Chevrolet.
Van Gisbergen also won the pole for this afternoon's Xfinity Series race, driving the No. 9 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports. He won the pole for the Mexico City Cup race last month.
The New Zealander was pleased with his pole in a qualifying session that saw Chevrolet sweep the top three starting spots.
"Yeah, that was epic! Our team did a great job. The No. 88 WeatherTech Chevrolet was ripping really good. I’m a lucky boy, I’ve got some great cars today -- both the Cup and Xfinity car. This is pretty special. I’m looking forward to the race tomorrow. Practice wasn’t that great for us, but when we went out for qualifying, the car felt really good. We turned in two pretty good laps.”
The Justin Marks-owned Trackhouse team owns 10 victories since it formed as a single-car team with Daniel Suárez. It added Ross Chastain in 2021 and Van Gisbergen in 2025. It occasionally fields a Chevrolet under the PROJECT91 banner for international driving stars like Kimi Raikkonen, Helio Castroneves and Van Gisbergen.
Suárez will start 18th and Chastain 22nd on Sunday.
TNT will broadcast Sunday's race at 2 p.m. ET.
